The Weekly Glint – the humble pincushion

The humble pincushion has been getting a lot of love on social media of late.

Small enough to whip up quickly but impressive enough to give as a gift, there are some brilliant little patterns doing the rounds – my favourite are from Sandra Cherry over at Cherry Heart http://sandra-cherryheart.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/crocheted-african-flower-pincushion.html and a French blog called Book Notes http://carnetdenotesandcie.over-blog.com/article-mon-premier-pique-aiguilles-au-crochet-107419778.html.

Look out friends and family! You might have a pretty little pincushion coming your way this Christmas.

  1. Seeing these pin cushions brought back memories of one my Aunty made for me – not nearly so pretty as these but what I found useful was she had sewn a piece of elastic to each side, enabling me to wear it around my wrist, thus freeing up both hands.
